Our long term promise…help us fulfill it.

[Blog Post by Maggie Kratz, Development Director]

If you’ve met with me, you’ve probably heard me say that I think of Habitat as a long-term relationship: families commit to pay their mortgages for the next 15-25 years, and we commit to being a strong, vibrant organization: because we hold the mortgages, they are trusting us with their future. We reinvest their payments into future homes: we promise to keep paying it forward.

There’s been a lot of buzz in our community about affordable housing lately, and how to ensure there are enough units to meet the need. Habitat is the only local organization that is providing a way for low-income families to purchase a home with an affordable mortgage. Owning a home allows families to build equity, plan for the future, and ensure a safe future for their kids.

Habitat continues to grow in our community-  we impact more families every year, we see more opportunities to invest in families who need a hand-up and who are willing to work hard to achieve their goals. We’ve expanded our programs, and if you’re interested in that, you can learn more here.

All of this leads to an invitation for you to be part of this incredible work. The Sustainability Fund asks people to invest in us for the next 5 years so we can plan our future and grow with confidence, knowing you’re behind us as more families come to us. You’ll be part of our long-term promise.

The amounts range from $1,000 – $50,000 a year, and there’s a packet that outlines the details. You can chose to be recognized towards a particular family, or towards a neighborhood’s revitalization.

I hope you’ll join us, and be part of a family’s journey every year.

Download the packet here, or contact me at 734.677.1558, ext. 119 or mkratz@h4h.org to get involved today.

Here’s a picture of all 17 families that became Habitat homeowners last year-  look at those smiles!!!
