The House of Abraham groundbreaking ceremony held on Sunday, September 23rd, was incredible. For those of you lucky enough to attend, we were blessed with beautiful weather and approximately forty in attendance from various congregations and organizations. All faiths were represented and our future homeowners, Taju Ali and Zabiba Mussa, were in attendance and excited to meet the group. We started off by talking with the group a bit about the the mission and goal of the House of Abraham project, had the joyous opportunity to hear Dr. William (St. James), Rev. Gronek (St. Clare's), Rabbi Levy (Temple Beth Emeth), and imam Jaami (local Muslim religious leader) give their blessing and words of encouragement as the group embarks on this interfaith build project. We closed with Taju leading a ceremonial "groundbreaking" of the soil where his soon-to-be new home will be. Thanks to all who attended. This promised to be a really exciting and wonderful build -- the first of its kind in Washtenaw County.
