Starting in August 2019, Habitat for Humanity and Thrivent Financial will come together to offer Thrivent members and local volunteers the chance to help build stronger homes and stronger communities. During Building on Faith 2019, volunteers will have the opportunity to support Habitat’s work in Washtenaw County by helping current local residents with a community development activity and renovating a home for a future Habitat homeowner.

Building on faith: Build days

Thrivent is partnering with congregations of the Lutheran Build to help renovate a Habitat home for the Schoenherr Family! Volunteer Build Days are Aug. 9, 10, 16 and 17, from 9 AM - 4 PM with a lunch break around noon. No construction experience is necessary, but projects will range from installing siding to trim, doors and other renovation-related work. Up to 12 volunteers are needed each day. Volunteer lunch providers are also needed.

On Saturday, Sept. 14, local Thrivent will partner with Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley to engage with residents in the Sugarbrook Neighborhood of Ypsilanti to host the first-ever Sugarbrook End of Summer Bash. Roughly 25 volunteers will be needed to help with set up, overseeing activities, make and serve food, clean up after the event and make Free Little Libraries for the residents of Sugarbrook. Volunteer times range 10 AM - 3 PM.
