Then & Now: Jack and Hannah's Story

Homeowners: January 2019

Just four weeks after closing on their Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley home in January of 2019, Jack and Hannah welcomed the arrival of their baby boy.

Today, the family of three is soon to be a family of four. Hannah and Jack are anxiously awaiting the arrival of their second child in just a few weeks.

“We’re excited to spend time in our large family room,” Hannah said.

The growing family has also enjoyed their spacious back yard, and put their Habitat construction skills to the test when they built a new patio last summer.

“The process with the Habitat Home Ownership program was a blessing in so many ways,” said Hannah.

Habitat Programs Help Prepare for the Family’s Future

While the couple worked on sweat equity hours and helped build their future home, they lived at Hannah’s parent’s home. One of the biggest things Hannah remembered was the financial part of owning a home. She believes Habitat’s Education Program set them up for long-term success.

“I learned the importance of tucking away and saving money monthly in case the house needed any repairs or upgrades,” Hannah said. “It’s great knowing our home is energy efficient, and we can budget our monthly bills better.”

The couple reflected on the building process, and remembered the volunteer construction days when the bathroom was demolished and the floors were replaced. They remain grateful for Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley and Adient’s support and volunteers.

“The time and patience was well worth it,” Hannah said. “The Adient team of supporters were amazing to work with, it was a cool experience.”

Jack and Hannah’s home was sponsored in 2019 by Adient.
