Meet the Young Family

“My name is Regina, and I’m 54 years old. I am originally from Saginaw, MI, and I moved to Ypsilanti in 2014 for better opportunities and safer schools. I currently work in the healthcare field, and I have two children. Tatyana is 29 years old. She served in the U.S. Army, and is now a retired veteran. My son Bryce is 18 years old and is a senior in high school.

During the stay-at-home order in 2020, I started hearing more about the Habitat for Humanity Home Ownership Program from co-workers and friends who knew people who had been offered a home through the Program. I decided to look into the program myself because I was tired of renting and living in an apartment. Due to Covid-19, lots of places shifted to having information online-only, including Habitat. I got the information online, went through the process, put in the work, and guess what? I am on my way to owning a home!

One of the biggest things I look forward to the most as a homeowner is being able to provide a safe and stable home for me and my son, without having to worry about moving again. Thank You to Habitat and all the people who donate funding and their time to make this possible for us.”

Regina’s home is sponsored by the the Friedman Family Fund, who has supported our organization since 2013, and the 2022 Women Build supporters, including the presenting sponsor the James A. & Faith Knight Foundation, PNC Bank and Nichols Charitable Fund.
