Services for Seniors in Washtenaw County

Our Aging in Place Home Improvement Program is built around the principle of providing older adults with improvements and modifications to help them age safely and comfortably in their home. Older adults who participate in the program receive repairs that make their homes safe, lower their utility bills and give them peace of mind while working with a trusted partner.

Repair Examples include

  • Interior and exterior handrails

  • Grab bars for bathrooms/showers

  • Lever doorknobs

  • Push-button door locks

  • Fire extinguishers

  • CO monitors

  • Smoke detectors

  • Updated dryer vent pipe

  • Deadbolts for entry doors

  • Peep holes for exterior doors

  • Front and/or back exterior doors

  • Tall toilets

  • Ramps

Program Requirements

  • 60 years or older

  • Own your home

  • Live in Washtenaw County

  • Be current on homeowner’s insurance, property taxes and mortgage

  • Meet income requirements

  • Complete Habitat homeowner application

  • Agree to applicable repayment

  • Sign Habitat’s agreement
